Krysta Fauria, the entertainment reporter of the Associated Press, has come under heavy criticism after an extremely awkward red carpet moment at the 67th Grammy Awards. Joined by her colleague Leslie Ambriz, Fauria cut 13-time Grammy winner Babyface off mid-interview to call in singer Chappell Roan, sparking backlash from fans and celebrities alike.

The Babyface Incident at the Grammys
The drama unfolded when Krysta Fauria and Leslie Ambriz were interviewing Babyface during the 2025 Grammys red carpet event at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. As the R&B legend was speaking mid-sentence, Fauria suddenly interrupted him to yell out Chappell Roan, who was walking by.
Visibly shaken, Babyface handed his mic over and walked away as Ambriz apologized. The whole moment was aired live on AP’s YouTube stream, and the backlash wasn’t late to follow.
Krysta Fauria’s Apology
Under mounting criticism, Krysta made an on-air apology at the Grammys, stating:
“I just wanna say I’m really sorry about cutting Babyface off earlier. Umm, Chappell Roan had come up, and there was a lot of commotion as there is on these carpets. But I’m a huge Babyface fan as are we all, and I just wanted to say that, uh, I really apologize.”
Her colleague, Leslie Ambriz, also remembered the moment and confessed that the red carpets were really fast and wished to have a second chance at interviewing Babyface.
The internet was outraged by the perceived disrespect shown to Babyface, and fans and celebrities came out to talk. Music legend Dionne Warwick took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared the video with the caption:
“13x Grammy Award-winning Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds? Am I seeing this correctly?”
Khloé Kardashian also voiced her disapproval in a passionate post, stating:
“This is so disrespectful how Babyface was treated in this interview… It’s maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve. He is a pioneer and deserves so much better than this.”
She continued “With decades of innovative work as a songwriter, producer and performer, he’s helped shape the sound of several generations. I love you @babyface, and I’m a fan forever.”
Kardashian also reiterated that every artist deserves respect, irrespective of their stature in the industry.
While Fauria’s apology sought to quell the controversy, the backlash remains, with many online users now questioning the professionalism of the entire AP red carpet team. Whether Babyface will respond directly to this remains unclear, but the fans and those in the industry aren’t staying silent about the matter.
