Zoe Wiebe Obituary

Zoe Wiebe Obituary –Friends and family are mourning the loss of a Grade 10 student, 15-year-old Zoe Wiebe, who, along with her mom, Jennie Wiebe, was tragically taken in a fatal car accident early this week. This sad news has immersed family members, friends, and fellow students into huge grief.

Zöe was born on September 3, 2009, in the town of Colin and Jennie Wiebe, where her parents made sure she got enough love as a little sister of Naomi and Joshua. Her given name, Zoe, literally means life, and truly, so she was: living. This little sweetheart, full of love for life, was a shining bright light, making those around her brighter with her vivacious spirit and kind nature, a nature that never stopped listening and always was up and ready.

A talented artist and musician, Zoe loved the theatre, painting and vocal music. She was very involved in Rockway Mennonite Collegiate in choir, band and in the theatre productions; she, as part of the key chorus and dance group, rehearsing toward their big school musical coming up next year. She loved to play sports: on the ultimate frisbee and volleyball teams, she loved to play team sports and contribute her energy, playing full-on with enthusiasm.

Her mother Jennie Wiebe was a well-loved member of the Grebel community. A 1999 alumna, she was a past Student Council President, Board member and long-time member of Grebel’s Alumni Committee. She and her husband Colin also served as Brubacher House hosts for almost four years. Her death is a tremendous loss to her family and the larger community.

She is survived by Zöe and Jennie, as well as Zöe’s older siblings, Naomi and Joshua. Also surviving are her extended family, Oma Mary Krueger, Gramma Betty Wiebe, and Grampa John Wiebe, who will also lovingly remember her. She was predeceased by her brother Nathan, Uncle Steven Krueger, and Opa Paul Krueger.

This news has been devastating to those who knew them. Condolences and prayers from Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, Grebel alumni, and friends have gone out to the Wiebe family. A community in grief is remembering the lives of Zoe and Jennie, reflecting on the huge impact they had on others.

Visitation will be held at Waterloo North Mennonite Church, 100 Benjamin Rd., Waterloo, on Sunday, February 2, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Monday, February 3 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
